Paul ministers in Corinth

Paul remains in Corinth for an extended ministry, teaching the word of God and forming a church amid opposition and encouragement.

Historical context

Corinth was a prosperous port city where commerce, mobility, patronage, temples, social status, and ethnic diversity shaped public life. A tentmaking partnership, synagogue debates, household conversions, and a hearing before the Roman proconsul show the complexity of the mission.

Biblical significance

God assures Paul that many people in the city belong to him, sustaining the apostle’s witness in a difficult environment. Corinth becomes an important church whose struggles later prompt some of Paul’s most substantial teaching about unity, holiness, love, and resurrection.
