The Father Runs to Meet You
The parable pictures welcome that arrives before a perfect explanation.
Luke 15:20–24The younger son prepares a speech, but the father moves toward him while he is still far off. Welcome comes before the son can rebuild his standing.
Jesus tells this story to show the generosity of God, not to make every family reunion simple. The image gives us a place to bring our longing for home.
Where have you assumed you must get everything right before returning to God? Take one step toward the welcome Jesus describes.
What would it mean to receive God’s welcome before you have every word figured out?
“Father, thank you for meeting me with compassion. Help me return and receive your grace.”
